This is the biggest game in Canadian men’s soccer history, and I refuse to be entirely cold about it. But the numbers are the numbers: Morocco are unbeaten, fully fit, have never lost to Canada, and Opta’s model gives them a 52.7% regulation win to Canada’s 21.7%. The line — Morocco 1.81, Canada 5.00, draw 3.35 — is priced accordingly.
Canada’s hope rests on Alphonso Davies’ fitness (a hamstring doubt) and the belief that carried them past South Africa. My head says Morocco have too much, but a knockout occasion and a roofed, climate-controlled stadium keep Canada live enough that the value is in the draw or extra time, not the outright upset. Paraguay vs France — A Mismatch on Paper
France are the outright tournament favourites (2.80) and arrive on four straight wins and 13 goals, fresh off a 3–0 dismissal of Sweden in which Kylian Mbappé scored twice. Paraguay, ranked 41st to France’s 3rd, are the tournament’s great spoilers after knocking Germany out on penalties. The board reflects the gulf: France 1.17, Paraguay 17.00, the draw 7.00.
At 1.17 there is no value in France to win straight, and Paraguay’s deep, disciplined block under Gustavo Alfaro — plus a brutal heat-health emergency in Philadelphia — argues for a lower-scoring, more patient French win than the price suggests.
